Ok, we all love to sink our teeth into something sweet every once in a while, some of us even on a daily basis, but how much sugar is too much sugar?

Grabbing some chocolate after a meal rocks, no doubt about it, but if you notice that you are having cravings and that you simply ‘must’ it several candies per day, something might be wrong with your “sweet tooth”.

The Symptoms

The best way to know if you are indeed addicted to this “sweet drug” is to thoroughly read “Beat Sugar Addiction NOW!” by Jacob Teitelbaum, MD.

However, we will give you the short version for the purposes of this article.

According to Teitelbaum, you might be a sugar addict if you find yourself to be:

  • Constantly tired
  • Constantly turning to sugar for “energy boosts” throughout the day
  • Extremely irritable when you go several hours without eating sugar
  • Constantly in the need for “something sweet”
  • Experiencing hormonal imbalances

Dr. Teitelbaum also warns that “constant anxiety, fatigue, and constant sugar cravings are all signs of an addiction. There’s no one amount of daily sugar that is a sign of sugar addiction, it all depends on whether a person feels poorly and exhibits the symptoms of the four types of sugar addicts. At that point, it’s time to figure out your addiction type and how you can treat it.”
