Energy Boost: Best Snack For Sustained Energy (Part 2)

We all need much energy to get us through the day, and we all know energy comes in the form of food and snacks.

However, we often tend to grab the first thing that is available to us and call it “an energy boosting snack”.

These foods are usually power bars from the nearest vending machine, some form of fast food, or something similar.

This is completely wrong and we need to understand these are not healthy energy boosting foods, and find better and healthier solutions. In order to do that, we need to know which foods best fuel our energy sources.

Basic Fuels

Since our daily energy comes from the foods we eat and the liquids we drink, we need to know which are the three main nutrients that food provides to our bodies, and how to use them properly. The three main nutrients are:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Protein
  • Fats

When we eat, our bodies break down these nutrients into smaller components which are then absorbed and used as fuel. This process is known as metabolism.

Now, it is crucial to realize that carbohydrates are actually the most important source and nutritionists recommend them as the main source, as your body uses the carbs energy first. After the carbs are depleted, it turns to protein and fats for energy.
